TAKADOOM

Taka Doom is a relatively new music project that is still taking shape. Started in 2015, the original impetus behind the ensemble was to combine the rhythmic improvisational processes of Hindustani and Karnatak music with the underlying metric foundation of Turkish rhythmic modes and drum patterns in an improvisational jazz fusion context. Hence, the name “Taka Doom” highlights drum recitation syllables from both Indian and Turkish classical music traditions. Through collaboration and vivid creativity, the ensemble members have developed an engaging repertoire that combines songs, rhythms, dance patterns, and improvisational elements from diverse musical traditions.
